Visualize and quantify uptake of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) using Zirconium-89 (89Zr). With a long-lived half-life of (3.3 days), 89Zr is well suited as a PET Imaging biomarker to access target expression as well as tumor targeting of mAbs.
Zirconium-89 radionuclide is dispensed as Monday calibration in Europe and Asia.
89Zr is particularly suitable for PET imaging of internalizing mAbs. 89Zr-immuno-PET can offer excellent sensitivity and accurate quantification of mAbs or mAb-fragments in pre-clinical in vivo models. 89Zr's physical half-life of 78.4 hr matches the biological half-life of a mAb, as well as the time it needs to perfectly reach optimal target-to-non-target ratios. Literature suggests that PET image quality is not disturbed by the decay of this residualizing isotope.
Zr-89 contains residual quantities of 88Y (t1/2=106.6 days) and 88Zr (t1/2=83.4 days) and must be discarded in accordance with all applicable local regulations.
