Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is a 44 kDa glycoprotein that catalyzes the oxidation of specific substrates in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. This results in emission of light, or deposition of colored or fluorescent product. As an antibody or streptavidin conjugate, horseradish peroxidase is widely used for detection of specific molecular targets. The high turnover rate of HRP enables you to get a high signal quickly. It provides excellent stability and is the most popular enzyme for chemiluminescent western blotting detection.
